Floral Art

It is a good idea to plan – find as many flowers as possible and practice exhibits at home prior to the floral art morning. All exhibits must be made by students, not parents. If you have extra flowers, greenery etc, please send along to school so they can be shared with others.

All floral exhibits must be made at school during class time from 9a.m. to 11a.m. on the morning of Friday, November 3. All items required for exhibits will need to be brought to school on the day.

Parents are invited to the school to assist with these arrangements in their child’s classroom. It is the child’s responsibility to do the arranging. Parents can move the arrangements to the hall when completed.

Each child may enter two arrangements, as well as a pressed flower bookmark (if they have pressed the flowers prior).

Please choose from the following categories: Floral Arrangement in a Novelty Container

Fruit and Vegetable Creation

Floral Sand Saucer

Pressed Flowers on a Card – Bookmark

Miniature Garden – in an Oven Dish

All ages.

Choose flowers and arrange in an unusual container: an old shoe, tin can, bottle, etc. Containers should not be hidden by arrangement and be able to hold water.

All ages.

Any creation can be made from fruit and vegetables. Toothpicks can be used to aid design and the fruit and vegetables may be cut or sliced. Search for ideas online.

Years 0-2.

Use a saucer, not a plate.

Use wet sand in the saucer.

Create interesting patterns with flowers, ensuring no sand is showing.

All ages.

These flowers should be pressed weeks prior to floral morning. Flowers must then be arranged creatively on a card and covered at school.

Start pressing flowers now!

Year 6 students only.

Create a theme using environmental materials – no plastic toys. Handmade attachments can be used. Try to keep everything in proportion. Judges are looking for creativity and colour. Please only use an oven dish.

Labels

Name and age labels will be provided on the creation day for all exhibits.

Help is Needed

Are you able to help in the following areas? We need:

  • Grocery Raffle Items – These can be sent to the school office from now. Every little bit helps. No items past their expiry date please.
  • Sweet/Bake Stall Items – A plate will be sent home with your child and we ask that you fill it with homemade sweets or baking then return it to school on the day before Pet Day, Friday 3rd November.
  • Help on the Day – We need people to help on the day with the setup, running of the stalls and clean up. We need as many people as possible to volunteer so we can all spend time with our children on the day. The more volunteers – the shorter the time slots. We appreciate all the support that makes this event a fun day for all.
