Gully Replant

A school project for this term is to plant a replacement hedge/wind-break along the top of the gully. We are planning a community/school planting day to take place on Arbor Day,30th May 2014. We are looking at suitable native species. Taupo Bungy, with the guidance of Green Taupo, are sponsoring 50 plants for us.

The new fence line is put in place with the new plantings on the gully side.

No meeting today as Year 5/6 students on school camp at Mt Maunganui and Year ¾ students on a day trip to Christian Camp Activities Day in Turangi.

Kapa Haka – the performance groups have begun weekly practices  for the Tuwahretoa Festival so some of our members are attending Kapa Haka then coming to enviro.

Bayer Science Fund – our application for funding towards the Aquaponics Unit was denied. We are continuing to do lots of fundraising.

Gully  Replant –  Families have been asked to ‘donate a tree’ and the Taupo Native Plant Nursery is doing a deal for $5.00 each. So far we estimate we have 300 plants.

Yahoo - this is our FIRST (and only) feijoa. Fingers crossed the crop will be better next year.

Week 2 - PUMPKINS - we harvested two pumpkins from our vine today. They had been safely tucked away b y the hedge.200-2014-05-15-n5lfn15NAK1r4itdv.png
