Newsletter Week 8 Term 3 2015

We had a great affirmation of the work we are doing here at school last week during our ERO review. They were extremely positive of the direction the board and the school are taking and how we are making learning happen in classrooms. There will be more details to follow from the Board of Trustees once the report has been released.

We hosted an end of year assembly for our winter sports teams on Monday. This assembly replaced our POWER assembly and was well supported by coaches and managers. It is always great to see and hear about the achievements of our students in other areas. Quite the sportsman and women we have at Wairakei.

The school calendar is filling up already. Teachers are busy planning for our new topic called Exploration. The finale for the topic will be a whole school production. There will be more details about this major event as we move into term four.

The Enviro Team have been showing an increasing number of groups through the Aquaponic Unit. It is great to see the link to community occurring. If you have a group that would like to visit the unit please contact Diana Fitzsimmons at school.

Next Monday 14 September, 2015 at we are having a special assembly. This assembly is to share with the CEO of WorkSafe NZ the work we have been doing on Farm Safety. A booklet has been produced by WorkSafe based on the feedback the school gave them in a survey conducted last year. To thank us for our support they are putting on a special assembly. You are most welcome to join us for this occasion. The booklets only went out to year 5 and 6 students. I will be touching base with those all students who have completed the booklet to talk with them during this week.

Well done to Room 2 for their assembly last week. I really enjoyed the fantastic science boards you shared.
