Start to 2016 welcome

Dear parents and caregivers

I wish you all a very happy festive season and welcome you to a wonderful New Year.

For the start of the 2016 academic year Wairakei Primary School will be opting for a collaborative approach to how we set up the classrooms and teaching spaces. We have arranged the children into similar age levels and formed learning communities across the school.

There are four learning communities names after our local Power Stations.

All learning communities will be focussing on the literacies of Reading, Writing and Mathematics integrated through all other curriculum areas.  Our 2016 major school topics will be Turangawaewae, Systems and Functions.

You will have received an introductory letter (available here) combined with the stationery list (available here). Parent information evenings will be held early in term one.

This is a very exciting development for Wairakei Primary School. The staff and I look forward to maintaining our ‘high-impact’ academic performance for every child attending your school.

Enjoy your summer and I will see you all in 2016.

Best wishes

Paula Farquhar
