Te Mihi Wheels Day

On Monday 29 August, Te Mihi Community was lucky enough to have Cath from Kids Bike Taupo visit with her giant van full of bikes and helmets! Some students brought their own bikes to ride. Each whanau group had lessons in helmet safety (we were fascinated to learn that a well-fitted helmet should stay on your head even when you tip your head down towards the ground) and we were soon racing each other around the field. What a novelty.

Cath set up a fun yet challenging obstacle course on the courts. We enjoyed the jumps and seesaw the most. We even had 'slow' races across the courts - that was really tricky! It was a great chance to refine our biking skills and kick off our Functions inquiry. We followed up with some in-class tasks about the invention of the wheel.

Thank you very much to Miss Crawford for organising the day and to Whaea Cath for her energy and positivity.
