Literacy skills are the foundation for all other learning at school.

It is the main priority from day one at Wairakei Primary school.

Our children are assessed in their foundation knowledge within the first few weeks of starting school which is shared with parents in a parent teacher meeting. This information is used to set the first learning goals for each student. Assessments are taken on a regular basis to inform our teachers practice about each individual learner and to assist teacher to make their overall teacher judgements

We believe in:
